Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff was born May 3, 1986. She attended the Cours Florent drama school, Paris. She has been in films like Loup 2009, Sleepless Night 2011 and Hacker's Game 2015. She plays the Mantis character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was raised in Quebec City to a Korean father and a French-Russian mother. He was employed as consul with the French government. Eugene Klementieff was her grandfather. Pom was her name because it is a symphony of the Korean words "spring" and 'tiger" in Korean. Klementieff was a Canadian citizen for one year. Her family was able to travel extensively due to her father's job. Prior to making the move to France the family resided in Japan and on the Ivory Coast. The father of Klementieff died from cancer when she was five, and her mother had schizophrenia and could not care for children which is why Klementieff was raised by her aunt and uncle who were paternal. Her uncle, who she described as "like [her] father", died at age 18. Her brother, who was older, who committed suicide seven years later, was also her aunt. After the passing of her uncle, Klementieff attended law school briefly to impress her aunt. But she didn't feel that the field was attractive to her. She was also a waitress and saleswoman in France. She started acting when she was 19and attended the Cours Florent theatre school in Paris. Within a couple of months of her education, she was awarded an award for theater that granted her free classes for two years with some of the best teachers. Klementieff was the first person to perform professionally in the independent French film Apres lui (2007). She played the step-daughter of the lead character, Catherine Deneuve. Three days were spent on filming her scenes. Klementieff was supposed push another person along a set staircase but fell to the ground. Gael Mostl kept the shots in the final film. Loup (2009) was her first leading role in a film. It is an French movie that tells the story of a tribe of Siberian mountain reindeer herders. Klementieff was filming at a camp hours away from the closest village. It was there that temperatures dropped to zero.
