Heather Nauert

 

Heather Ann Nauert, born January 27, 1970, is an American broadcast journalist, who was previously an official of the federal government. She served as the spokesperson for the United States Department of State during the Donald Trump administration (2017 to 2019). She is a senior fellow of the Hudson Institute, a conservative think group. Before becoming a member of the Department of State, Nauert was an anchor for Fox News reporter and news presenter for Fox & Friends. From March through October of 2018, Nauert worked as acting Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy, Public Affairs, and Public Diplomacy during the Trump administration. Nauert was also appointed to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board in 2019 by Trump. Nauert hails from Rockford, Illinois. Peter Nauert, her father, was an executive in a insurance company. She has three siblings: Justin, Jonathan and Joseph. Nauert went to Keith Country Day School in Rockford (Illinois), Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hills, Massachusetts and Arizona State University. After securing an internship at Washington, DC hosting a country music video program Nauert decided to finish her education at Mount Vernon College for Women and earned her Bachelor of Arts in communications. She also earned her master's in journalism from Columbia University.
